Conservatives for Clean Energy launches in Louisiana

BATON ROUGE, La. – Regional clean energy group Conservatives for Clean Energy today announced its launch in Louisiana. The advocacy group exists in five other southern states: North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia and Virginia.

Established in North Carolina, Conservatives for Clean Energy (CCE) educates the public and decision-makers on the economic benefits of clean energy and advocates for continued investments in renewables across the Southeast. In each state, CCE tailors its focus to the most relevant statewide priorities. Key issues in Louisiana will include supply chain for offshore wind investments, carbon capture and sequestration (CCS & CCUS), and clean hydrogen efforts.

“We are very excited to be in Louisiana and to promote the clean energy potential in the state,” said CCE President & CEO Mark Fleming. “The state’s rich energy makeup paired with its industrial impact make it a logical addition to our efforts. We look forward to educating Louisianans about the economic benefits of renewables as we join forces with conservative leaders to help Louisiana reach its full clean energy potential.”

The CCE Louisiana chapter will be led by Will Hardy, a Louisiana native and lifelong conservative. In other states where CCE exists, the group has a long track record of pushing for the sustainable clean energy policies that make sense for each state, which in turn broadens markets, creates jobs, strengthens businesses and benefits communities.

“I am excited to welcome Conservatives for Clean Energy to Louisiana,” said Louisiana State Rep. Joe Orgeron (R – District 54). “Louisiana has a major role in our nation’s energy security and the experts & support industries now committed to pursuing clean energy work. Paired with everything we are doing at the Clean Hydrogen Task Force and around the state, this group will be a fantastic asset to have educating the public and stakeholders on clean energy ventures and how they directly benefit Louisiana and its people.”

“I’m aligned with anything that helps Louisiana use its resources responsibly and foster energy independence,” said Louisiana State Sen. Bob Hensgens (R – District 26), who is also chair of the Natural Resources Committee. “This group wants that, and I’m excited they’ll be educating our state on how much Louisiana stands to gain from new energy projects that boost our economy.”
