Thomas Shumaker Announced as North Carolina Director of Conservatives for Clean Energy
RALEIGH, NC – Conservatives for Clean Energy (CCE) announced today that Thomas Shumaker has been named as the North Carolina Director of CCE.
Thomas Shumaker, 32, is a native North Carolinian with extensive experience working in issue advocacy and clean energy policy. Shumaker replaces Carson Butts, who has taken a position as North Carolina Legislative Affairs Manager for the Carolinas Credit Union League.
“Thomas Shumaker brings both an intellectual and practical approach to the process of educating key stakeholders about North Carolina’s clean energy economy,” said Mark B. Fleming, CCE’s President and CEO. “Under Thomas’s leadership, CCE-North Carolina will reach new heights in moving clean energy forward.”
Shumaker is optimistic that the momentum clean energy is experiencing in North Carolina will continue. “Clean energy supports good jobs, fosters economic development, and facilitates competition in the marketplace,” Shumaker remarked. “It’s up to conservatives to tell the clean energy story from a market-based approach, emphasizing the value of clean energy to our state’s economy.”
Shumaker is a graduate of Caldwell Early College in Hudson, North Carolina. He holds a Bachelor of Science of Agricultural Life Science and Business Management from North Carolina State University and a Master of Liberal Arts in Extension Studies from Harvard University Extension College. A resident of Raleigh, Shumaker worked on the campaigns of Senators Thom Tillis and Richard Burr.
