Conservatives for Clean Energy Hosts Energy Policy Roundtable with Congresswoman Jen Kiggans and Virginia Leaders
NORFOLK, VA – Conservatives for Clean Energy, in partnership with the office of U.S. Representative Jen Kiggans (VA-02), convened a roundtable on August 29 to highlight the future of clean energy policy at both the state and federal levels. The discussion brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and local officials to examine opportunities for advancing affordable, reliable, and increasingly clean energy across Virginia and the nation.
The roundtable featured remarks from Glenn Davis, Director of the Virginia Department of Energy, who provided an overview of Governor Glenn Youngkin’s “All-of-the-Above, All-American Energy Policy” over the past four years. Director Davis emphasized the importance of innovation, investment, and permitting reforms in driving Virginia’s energy strategy forward.
Congresswoman Kiggans shared updates on recent federal legislation, reaffirming her commitment to energy tax incentives that encourage private-sector innovation while ensuring American energy dominance. She also highlighted the progress of Dominion Energy’s Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Project—one of the largest in the nation—scheduled for completion in 2026.
Additionally, participants discussed the SPEED Act, legislation designed to cut red tape and enable the United States to build once again while setting the standard for environmental stewardship. The SPEED Act is poised to help launch America into a future where infrastructure is modernized, energy demands are met, artificial intelligence innovation is supported, and economic growth works in harmony with environmental responsibility.
Local leaders in attendance included the Mayor of Virginia Beach, representatives from the Virginia Offshore Wind Development Authority, Dominion Energy, and Hampton Roads workforce development organizations. Together, they addressed the region’s growing role in shaping America’s energy future.
“One of the biggest things is ensuring nothing is left on the table,” said Thomas Turner, Virginia Director for Conservatives for Clean Energy. “I am thankful to my Congresswoman, Jen Kiggans, for her leadership in advancing affordable, reliable, and increasingly clean energy—including sound permitting reforms that will help secure our nation’s energy dominance.”

Congresswoman Kiggans added:

“I want to thank Virginia Conservatives for Clean Energy for hosting this important discussion with local stakeholders on how best we can continue to support an all-of-the-above energy approach. Engaging local stakeholders is critical to ensuring that Virginia continues to be a leader in commonsense energy policy and permitting reform that provides reliable energy to the Commonwealth and our country. The most important aspect of this discussion revolved around the energy needs of our military and how best we can ensure they have the resources they need to complete their mission. Energy security is national security.”

Conservatives for Clean Energy will continue working with leaders at every level to advance policies that strengthen Virginia’s energy economy, support innovation, and enhance U.S. energy security.
